ARTIST BIO
Ahmed Partey is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the
realms of painting and sculpture, weaving together ancestral narratives
with contemporary expression. Working primarily with acrylic paint,
pastel paint, oil paint and wood, Partey is both a painter and a carver.
His artistic exploration extends into the digital space, where he creates
NFTs and immersive virtual reality experiences. Partey’s art is a
dynamic exploration of Afro-Ancestral Spiritualism, a style that reflects
the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Africa, Ghana in particular,
while evoking deeply personal and universal emotions.
Inspired by the timeless beauty and mystique of traditional African
(specifically west African) masks, Partey’s creations are imbued with
stories of identity, emotion, and ancestral memory. His paintings and
carved wood sculptures do not merely represent masks but bring them
to life, portraying distinct characters and personalities that pulse with
raw emotion. Each work is a dialogue between the past and present—a
visual language that captures the unseen forces and spiritual
connections that shape our world.
Through his vivid use of colour and texture, Partey invites the viewer
into a space where tradition meets transformation, and the boundaries
between the physical and spiritual dissolve. His pieces are as much
about honouring the ancestors as they are about confronting the
complexities of the self, offering a powerful meditation on history,
culture, and human experience.
Since 2017 Partey has been cultivating his craft, constantly evolving and pushing boundaries while staying anchored in cultural heritage. Whether painting or carving, he channels the zeitgeist of his African history, creating pieces that resonate with a sense of timelessness and transcendence.
